Are You Addicted To Facebook?

The social network website Facebook has become so popular and virtually affecting millions of people across the globe. Facebook was launched in February 2004 and is operated and privately owned by facebook Inc, with more than 500 million active users in August 2010.
It makes users add people as friends and share things by posting updates videos as well as photos.  Additionally users can also join networks organised by workplaces, schools, colleges, political parties and religious groups amongst others.

With the huge number of users across the globe, the social network website is arguably the most patronised among twitter, net log, yahoo, Skype, my space, Bebo, and the list goes on. But what is so unique about facebook to the others?

A Business Manager, Amit Soni from NetApp, India, said “At first when I visited the internet, all I knew was yahoo and gmail to send message and wait for a day or two to get a response. But now facebook is proven reliable even more than mobile phones and people love using it, as I also enjoy hooking on it 24/7”. “You see people have become so hyper active on facebook that all they do is spend hours on facebook chatting and sharing things, so you see facebook is spot on” Amit Soni added.

Most people use facebook for many different reasons to the extent that some have to wake up at dawn or while in the office or in a bus to sign in on facebook. And some people I spoke to told me it has become a part and parcel of their lives, and they feel sick if they go for a day without visiting the website.

Yinkmin, an executive from BizTradeShows.com, India said Facebook is one of the most powerful, man-made tools for building business contacts, to promote & advertise one’s organisation cost effectively and has revolutionized the entire process of marketing.

My views about Facebook are that it has become a vehicle through which I get in touch with my family & friends, I mean I can’t do without facebook; it’s the way I live now”. “I log on every day, it’s affordable and comfortable as I can sit in my room and chat the whole night. It gives me a lot of joy, I just can’t afford to let go of facebook”.

Facebook brings a lot of fun and helps broaden your horizons. It has its controversies and challenges which if not careful can distract your focus thus a lot of caution must be taken, but how long must one hang on to it?

Have all the fun but don’t be addicted to facebook because the addiction is growing at a fast speed and affecting friends and families both positively and negatively. Do not be a victim.

Social Media & Lead Generation Compliment Each Other

Now days, Social Networking has become a cup of tea for everyone. It has taken place on personality traits on every individual. Facebook might be as a girlfriend, Linked in as a boss, Twitter is filled with acquaintances to say 'hi' to all the customers.

Social media is not only social but professional as well. It is a great place to attract new customers.  It is the top emerging channel for lead generation among technology marketing professionals. It helps in creating a brand online and also strengthens the reputation.

Important factors helping in lead generation are:
  •  Drive customer to the company website. It can be easily done through twitter. Good tweets with shortened URL’s always help.
  • Keep updating your website content from time to time as it helps in boosting search engine rankings.
  •  Distribute content as much as possible e.g. facebook, linked in discussion groups etc. There are so many other websites as well which allows you to add your complete company profile.
  • Always monitor conversations about your brand and competitors. You should be aware what your competitors are doing.
  •  Be responsive to customer’s questions and feedback.

ROI Based on Soft Metrics

While hard metrics of conversions (sales, cost-per-sales, and profit) is the way many businesses tend to rate social media ROI, businesses should also consider softer metrics as a means to measure campaign effectiveness by asking the following questions:
  • Are brand-relevant tweets being re-tweeted on Twitter?
  • Are there more fans and brand-friends on Facebook?
  • Is there an up-tick in online conversations about a new product launch or web design improvements?
  • Are site visitors and customers sharing opinions and discussing what they want and need?
Questions such as these may not add up to actual sales and quantifiable profit in the short run, but ROI based on soft metrics can certainly provide insight.

Therefore, companies and brands must clearly define their social media marketing goals, apply measurable metrics, and take a long-view approach. Only in this manner can social media marketing prove itself to be a viable and worthwhile means for attaining business objectives. Social media’s return on investment is best measured over time in the form of customer loyalty, customer relationship management, and with an improved corporate perception in the general marketplace.

Growing Importance of a Blog

As an SEO learner, I have a deep interest in many aspects of Social Media Optimization (SMO), and I try recommending to all my friends, colleagues and relatives to own their personal blog.
A blog helps in serving many purposes, it provides the readers with important information regarding your industry, it helps establish your authority in a particular industry, it brings additional visitors to your site, and it helps you develop relevant anchor text links, which are vital for SEO.

Those who are interested in developing a Blog, I recommend using WordPress – of all do-it-yourself Blog services, WordPress seems to be the most SEO friendly and it is fairly straightforward.
Some important things to remember when developing your blog are: stick with relevant posts, write posts that visitors will find interesting, include 3-5 anchor text links (that is, after all, one of the purposes of your blog), and always include tags, which let Blog surfers know what your site is all about.

Good Quality Content For A Website Is Necessary

As search gets smarter day by day, we are getting nearer to coming full circle to an original goal of Internet search: that content is, indeed, king.

Good quality content
is the most important ingredient for any website, so it is very necessary for the owners of the website to manage the content on regular basis. Nowadays companies are hiring professionals for this work. Earlier the design and visual creativity of pages was given much more importance than the content. But with the coming up of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), content gained it prominence.

There are many factors which are responsible for your websites success. The content writer should be very clear as what all is to be written on a website. Know the target audience first and then generate content. The style, length and structure of the content are the most essential factor that influences the amount of visitors that would view the content. The content should be informative, crisp and to the point. Use of specific keywords makes the content more adaptable by search engines. Frequent upgrading of the content is very necessary to maintain and increase the traffic. It doesn't matter how multimedia rich and flashy your website is, rich content is now a mandatory requirement for the survival of your website.

There is an old Chinese proverb which says: "Words are the keys to the heart". So, nothing is more true on the web today. Good Luck!
